It started with an idea - it became a dream - then reality ... which unfotunately had to change due to circumstances beyond our controll

Put two best mates together who are nature lovers, adventurers and a bit crazy
too and what happens is a bicycle trip from Australia to Switzerland.

Alex:
When I came to Australia to study photography in 2003, I flew from Switzerland to Melbourne via Germany, Singapore and Sydney... I was exhausted and I hated flying even more. I thought "I want to ride back on my bicycle, no more flying" and now it is happening! It was a joke that became a dream and then reality. Along the journey my body didn't cope with the enormous stesses of cycling and my mind struggled with not being able to continue and finish this journey on a bicycle. I had to accept my limits and send my bicycle home to continue this journey ... Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand on a bicycle ... an adventurous side trip to Myanmar ... via Motor-Tuk-Tuk through Thailand, Cambodia and Laos ... it won't get boring with me but I am sad not being able to continue this trip on my bike with my best mate Albano!

I would like to dedicate this journey to my late father Willy B. Kaeslin - without him, this trip would still be a dream ...

Albano:
Things change and I will continue this journey on my bicycle without Alex. It was a struggle in the beginning but the feeling of freedom in the mountains made me stronger and more determined to finish this trip the wayit started. Yes we planned this trip together but life brings unexpected changes ... we will meet up along the way for sure and will have many many adventures stories to share!

Some of our common goals are:

• To travel from Australia to Switzerland by bicycle and alternative transportation (i.e. not tourist buses etc.) and occasional water crossings by boat. To begin this journey in Darwin, Australia in 2006 and complete it in Switzerland in 2008.
• Document the trip as a whole with still photography and video, focusing on social and environmental issues.
• To gear the images in this documentary for different possible outcomes, for example, a film about our journey, still photos and slide shows for exhibition.
• To live our dream!
